Wix, Squarespace or WordPress – Which is better for your business’s website?

When it comes to the do-it-yourself websites the majority of people turn to Wix, Squarespace or WordPress to get the job done. With all of them having similarities it can be difficult to know which platform is the best option when it comes to building a new website for your business or brand.

To give you a helping hand the team at minc marketing has broken down the positives and negatives of each platform to allow you to make a more informed decision when starting your website journey.

Wix advantages

The main advantage of using Wix is that out of the three platforms it is the most user-friendly. If you don’t have much experience creating websites and want to build a web page quickly Wix is your best option.

While it may fall down to the other two platforms in terms of design capability and cost, it does allow you to create a website quickly with its AI builder. Most of us don’t have knowledge of web code and Wix is the best code-free option out there.

This doesn’t mean you’ll have to miss out on features as Wix has a variety of plugins such as chatboxes, calendars, subscription services and more, all with easy-to-install apps.

WordPress advantages

Larger businesses usually go down the WordPress option when it comes to a new website as they often have more time and financial resources to play with. WordPress is the superior platform when it comes to adding unique features to match a business’s industry or requirement however this realistically requires coding capability.

The ideal way to use WordPress is to use a web-design business to build you a website using WP and then hand it over to you to maintain and edit. It is easy to make changes, and duplicate pages and has a wide range of plugins from website ads to SEO.

WordPress is also the cheapest out of the three platforms when getting started and it is possible to build a simple website/blog without using coding. The customisability of this is more limited than Wix and Squarespace however.

Squarespace advantages

Squarespace is a platform with the design very much at the forefront, while it is not as easy to use as Wix and not as extensive as WordPress it does allow users to create professional-looking websites easily. It does require a little bit of coding to get the most out of it but is certainly a more user-friendly option than WordPress.

If you have a bit more time to invest in the design of your website and some experience building websites before Squarespace is a great option.

Which should I go for?

Wix – If customisability and ease of use are your priority Wix is likely to be the best option for you.

WordPress – If you are a larger business and are going to seek support from a professional WordPress is the best option.

Squarespace – If you have some design and coding ability and want to focus on building a beautiful website Squarespace is a great option.
